Disneyland...Last Day

Monday, February 24, 2014

I got to drive a car!

Grandpa climbed stairs with me.

Waiting for the Pixar parade, eating SO much popcorn.
 I'm done!!!

The last day of the trip was spent at both parks.  We did a few things at Disneyland and went back to California Adventures in the evening to catch the parade and ride Radiator Springs at night.  That place is incredible when it's all lit up and I will include some pictures of it later on.  That night when Colin got back to the room, he actually fell asleep!!!  That's huge for us since he could stay up all night.  He did however wake up early throwing up all over the hotel room.  No successful Disneyland trip can go without your child puking up junk food, but after the 2nd wardrobe change, and 3rd time throwing up, we realized we had a pretty sick little kid.  This is Colin's first time every throwing up like he did.  It was EVERYWHERE.  I feel sorry for the poor maids who had to come and clean our room.  We brought several plastic bags with us to the airport which was good because he lost it again in the car as well as several times in the airport.  Once we were on the plane we were able to get airsick bags which were used with great frequency.  Luckily he was able to sleep most of the plane ride home and as luck would have it, once we got in the car and headed home...he was fine!  Perked up in his car seat and wanted to have a bunch of candy to eat.
So, overall it was an awesome trip and hopefully one he will remember and have fond memories of.  A huge pat on the back to Derek for making this happen and for planning such a fun vacation! xoxo

California Adventures

Thursday, February 20, 2014

On Wednesday we went to California Adventure to ride the most popular ride ever...Radiator Springs Racers.  It was worth the wait both times!  It looks exactly like the movie and Colin had the best time meeting Lighting McQueen and Mater.  We did a few other rides at the park, but nothing really sparked our attention other than Radiator Springs.  That night we had dinner at Goofy's Kitchen.  The food was awesome but more important, Colin got to meet a bunch of the characters.  Pluto and Colin could not hold still and as much as I tried I could not get a clear picture.  All the other characters kept coming by the table several times throughout the night, but after almost 2 hours, we could not wait any longer for Pluto to stop by again.  Minnie Mouse however came to our table 4 or 5 times.  She clearly had a thing for Colin but who's to say I blame her.  One of the fun things for mom was the fact that I was able to find a shirt to match Colin's.  I'm very thankful for extremely overweight 10 year olds!!

Disneyland...Day 2

Meeting The Mouse for the first time.

Meeting Pluto for the first time.

This is how most of the trip was.  Poor dad.

 Buzz-Buzz on Winnie the Pooh.

The best toy he has ever had.

Mickey pretzels.  THEY were a big hit.
Mom and Dad made him do this.

 Toontown...where they both belong.

Day two was ALL Disneyland.  We started out with a lovely breakfast that was more than a nice dinner at The New Yorker!  While waiting in line to see Pluto, Mickey came out and headed straight to Colin for a special meet and greet and picture.  Even though we rented a really nice stroller, Colin spent most of the time on dad's shoulders.  He is anxiously awaiting his chiropractic appointment this Wednesday!  We did a lot of the little rides that both mom and dad have not been on in years.  Some were fun...others not so great.  Unfortunately some of the best rides were not open.  Like It's A Small World, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain and The Submarine Ride (NOTE: I have never been on the "Finding Nemo Ride", but to me...there will never be anything other that the original submarine ride!!!)  I was sad some of those rides he was not able to see, but it just gives us the best excuse to go back.  Colin was a good sport to go on most all the rides with us: the Haunted Mansion, Pirates.  He was a little stinker however.  He didn't want to do anything, but after the rides, thought they were awesome.  The night was finished out with a visit from Goofy.  Colin nearly tackled the poor dog, but the hugged it out and said goodnight with "knuckles".

Colin and grandpa killing time while we wait for our flight.

Colin's first airplane ride and his excitement over it.

We all felt this way when we finally landed!

 The first time!

 Mickey, eerr, "Cachow" Ears

 So...many...churros

It sure felt like a long time, but we finally made our way to Disneyland.  In order to keep the trip and everyone on their toes we started our journey at the airport around 8:00am to make our flight at 9:45am.  Wait...did I say AM?  What I meant was PM!  We made a mistake and overlooked that fact that our tickets for for 9:45PM.  Do to the fact that mom and dad are avid Amazing Race watchers, dad hustled around the airport and managed to get us all a flight out at 11:45am.  It ended up being perfect because the flight we originally thought we were on somehow got delayed or cancelled and people from that flight were on our flight.  So it really wouldn't have mattered.  Colin did amazing for his FIRST airplane ride ever.  He was more concerned about his video game and wanted to keep the window shade down so there wouldn't be a glare on his screen.  We got to the park and had more than enough time to go to Disneyland and ride a bunch of rides.  The rocket ride was the first one we did and as long as Colin kept the rocket down near the ground, he was happy.  We then went to get a Mickey Ear hat that mom had grandiose visions of.  Colin put a halt to that when he picked out a Lighting McQueen hat with wheel ears.  My visions were deflated but he was so happy with the hat I couldn't help be happy with him.  Of course we all had a lot of churros...you cannot go to Disneyland and NOT have any.  That's just not right.  I think Colin's favorite part of the day was the parade toward the end of the night.  He loved waving to all the characters and loved being up on daddy's shoulders.  He would be there for the remaining of the trip! :)
